Kristen + Matthew

April 1, 2017

“I think everybody here is in love with the fact that you’re in love with each other.”

 – Fr. Richard George

The foggy sunrise the morning of Kristen & Matt’s Okeechobee wedding felt as if the sky was kissing the earth in a loving tribute to a day that would be like no other. I knew that morning would be worth getting up early for.

It’s hard to know where to begin when it comes to this couple. They are so special–and if you know them, you know exactly what I’m talking about. They are kind, joyful, supportive, loyal, charismatic and basically a two person party wherever they go. But what really defines these two are the words that don’t really exist. It’s something I search for when I see Matt smile at Kristen when she tells a funny story, or the laugh Kristen has only for Matt–it’s a soft intensity like the sun on a foggy sunrise.

Dave and I started working with Matt & Kristen nearly a year before their wedding and spent a lot of time together getting to know one another. They invited us out to tour their reception venue, where Matt proposed to Kristen. We learned about something called “glamping”, climbed the epic tree-house where they would hold their future cocktail hour, laughed over Lots of wine and shared stories of our lives. That’s about the time when planning their wedding video became something very personal for both Dave and me. We built our vision for their wedding day choosing the scenes they shared with us that day, but what they didn’t see were the movements of their love story playing out in my mind’s canvas. Kristen planned her wedding colors around the tones of a sunset, but I knew I’d have to capture the sunrise to truly bring their story together.

Their video couldn’t just be a part of the day. It needed to be the day beginning to end, seamless and pure like their love for each other.

I warned Kristen the day would be a blur, and with over 300 guests, 40+ wedding party, and a 1.5 hour marriage ceremony, it may have been a bit of a blur for all of us.

I’m happy to say that while this was the most difficult story I’ve ever had the pleasure of telling, it is also my very favorite.

Special thanks to the vendors who helped make their day perfect!
