Emily called me one day, out the the blue, asking if I do birth documentary sessions. I hadn’t done one up to that point, but I was really hoping she would let me! It was the coolest experience, being on call 24/7 waiting for Emily to say ,”It’s time.” It was an honor documenting those first seconds, minutes and hours of sweet baby Stella’s life. She isn’t mine of course, but I love that little girl as if she were my own. So, a week later we did Stella’s Newborn session, which lasted about 4.5 hours but was SO worth it. And then we got together again at the half way mark to do her 6 Month Session. Every time I see sweet Stella I get a better picture of her amazing little soul and BIG personality. She’s pretty unassuming when you meet her, but while you’re distracted with her adorable eyes and smile she’s figuring out every one of your buttons and soon has you wrapped completely around her finger.
Emily and I planned Stella’s 12 month session for months and we had everything in place, setting out for the beach in the early hours of the morning.
It was a mess. Hot. Humid. Cranky brothers. MERCILESS BITING BUGS AND NO BUG SPRAY. We left our session with our hands in the air. We got some great shots, to be sure, but not half of what we planned. So, I invited Stella back to my home to try some of the shots again and we’re so glad we did! Just scroll down to the end and you will see some magic captured there. Of course, it doesn’t take much when you’re working with a natural beauty like this little girl.
I can’t believe it’s been a year already, Stella, since we all welcomed you into the world! I can’t wait to see you grow into the lovely young lady I know you will be!
